Although the days are getting quite short, there is plenty of color to brighten your day at Cherry Sprout! Citrus season is just kicking off, we got our first shipment Meyer Lemons this week, sustainably grown in California. We also have great deals on grapefruits, oranges and satsumas so it’s a delicious time of year to get your vitamin C!
This is also a great time of year to get acquainted with some interesting varieties of winter squash. It is the height of the local season and squash is a wonderfully easy to prepare, nutritious food. The simplest preparation is to halve the squash lengthwise, scoop out the seeds with a spoon, then slice in 1″ strips. Brush with oil, salt and pepper to taste, and roast at 375 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes depending on the variety and your preference. Yum!
Finally, we just got our delivery of beautiful local poinsettias. Lovely for a gift or for you!
